LED Strip - Construction
The strip uses SMD technology with LEDs in a 5050 package. The underside has factory-applied double-sided adhesive tape to aid installation on a suitably prepared surface.
Control of LED strip
The strip requires a PWM controller supporting the 3 control channels used by the RGB configuration.
Important information
The stated power is a rated or theoretical value based on the parameters of the components used. Actual power consumption may be lower due to component tolerances, voltage drop and operating conditions.
Power and installation
The strip does not require an additional power-injection point when its length does not exceed 5m. Above this length, consider starting the next separately powered run, supplying the run at its far end, or adding another power point after the indicated length.
The 5m value is based on the electrical properties of the strip PCB. It indicates the length at which supply-voltage drop should not cause a noticeable reduction in LED brightness along the length of strip. Above this length, a brightness difference may become visible. If it remains acceptable to the end customer, the final power-feed arrangement is the responsibility of the installation designer or user.
Light emitted by LED strip
An RGB LED strip uses three independent color channels: red, green, and blue. By adjusting their relative brightness levels, it is possible to produce a very wide range of colors, including smooth color transitions, dynamic lighting effects, and white light created by activating all three channels simultaneously. Red, green, and blue are the primary colors of the additive color model, and the characteristics of red, green, and blue LEDs are stable, repeatable, and well understood — which is why these particular colors are used.
The strip requires a compatible 3-channel RGB controller that independently regulates the intensity of each color channel, most commonly using PWM modulation. Different output colors — other than the three primary colors — are obtained by varying the relative intensity of the red, green, and blue channels. Depending on the controller used, the user can select colors, adjust brightness, and activate predefined lighting scenes and dynamic effects.
RGB LED strips are designed primarily for decorative, effect, and ambient lighting of interiors, furniture, ceilings, display cases, and architectural elements.
LED strip - product overview
The strip operates at 12V and has a density of 30LED/m with an IP33 ingress-protection rating.
Sales unit of led strip
The sales unit includes a factory-prepared reel of LED strip with a length of 5m.
LED strip - power supply selection
The strip requires a power supply with an output voltage of 12V. Guidance: select a power supply with an optimum 30% power reserve above the LED strip demand.
Premium RGB LED strip 150LED SMD 5050 for accent lighting
Choose the Premium RGB LED strip 150LED SMD 5050 when you want clean color, smooth effects, and sensible power use. The 150 LEDs per roll density is great for subtle accents. It also helps reduce energy draw. SMD 5050 diodes deliver stable RGB mixing and vivid scenes. Premium components keep the light consistent over time. This strip fits perfectly in aluminum profiles. It also works well for shelves, coves, and display lighting.
Where it works best
- Furniture, shelves, niches, and under-cabinet accents
- Ceilings, coves, and architectural highlights
- Showcases, signage, and decorative installations
- Aluminum profiles for cleaner lines and better cooling
Premium RGB LED strip 150LED SMD 5050: power and control
Use a constant-voltage power supply matched to the total wattage. Add a 20–30% safety margin for reliability. Choose models with OVP, OCP, SCP, and OTP protections. Active PFC can improve efficiency and stability. For long runs, apply power injection to avoid voltage drop. Feed power about every 5 m for 12V systems. Feed power about every 10 m for 24V systems. Use a star wiring layout and correct cable gauge.
Installation and cutting
The strip can be cut only at marked cut points. Connect sections using soldering or quality connectors. The adhesive backing speeds up installation on clean surfaces. An aluminum profile improves heat dissipation and extends lifespan. For outdoor use, seal all connections against moisture.
FAQ
- Which power supply should I choose? Add up the load and include a 20–30% reserve. Pick a unit with OVP/OCP/SCP/OTP.
- When do I need power injection? Use it for longer runs or when brightness fades at the end. Follow 5 m (12V) or 10 m (24V) guidance.
- Can I cut and reconnect the strip? Yes, at cut marks. Soldering gives the most durable connection.
