LED Strip - Construction

The strip uses SMD technology with LEDs in a 5050 package. The underside has factory-applied double-sided adhesive tape to aid installation on a suitably prepared surface.

Control of LED strip

The strip requires a PWM controller supporting the 3 control channels used by the RGB configuration.

Important information

The stated power is a rated or theoretical value based on the parameters of the components used. Actual power consumption may be lower due to component tolerances, voltage drop and operating conditions.

Power and installation

The strip does not require an additional power-injection point when its length does not exceed 5m. Above this length, consider starting the next separately powered run, supplying the run at its far end, or adding another power point after the indicated length.

The 5m value is based on the electrical properties of the strip PCB. It indicates the length at which supply-voltage drop should not cause a noticeable reduction in LED brightness along the length of strip. Above this length, a brightness difference may become visible. If it remains acceptable to the end customer, the final power-feed arrangement is the responsibility of the installation designer or user.

Light emitted by LED strip

An RGB LED strip uses three independent color channels: red, green, and blue. By adjusting their relative brightness levels, it is possible to produce a very wide range of colors, including smooth color transitions, dynamic lighting effects, and white light created by activating all three channels simultaneously. Red, green, and blue are the primary colors of the additive color model, and the characteristics of red, green, and blue LEDs are stable, repeatable, and well understood — which is why these particular colors are used.

The strip requires a compatible 3-channel RGB controller that independently regulates the intensity of each color channel, most commonly using PWM modulation. Different output colors — other than the three primary colors — are obtained by varying the relative intensity of the red, green, and blue channels. Depending on the controller used, the user can select colors, adjust brightness, and activate predefined lighting scenes and dynamic effects.

RGB LED strips are designed primarily for decorative, effect, and ambient lighting of interiors, furniture, ceilings, display cases, and architectural elements.

LED strip - product overview

The strip operates at 12V and has a density of 60LED/m with an IP20 ingress-protection rating.

Sales unit of led strip

The sales unit includes a factory-prepared reel of LED strip with a length of 5m.

LED strip - power supply selection

The strip requires a power supply with an output voltage of 12V. Guidance: select a power supply with an optimum 30% power reserve above the LED strip demand.

LED strip 300LED SMD 5050 RGB is a versatile choice when you want strong color, stable output, and easy installation. With 300 LEDs and proven SMD 5050 technology, it delivers rich RGB tones and dynamic lighting scenes. This RGB LED strip 300LED SMD 5050 balances diode density and power draw, so it works well in both decorative and functional projects.

RGB LED strip 300LED SMD 5050 — what you get

  • Vivid RGB colors for hundreds of shades and effects.
  • SMD 5050 LEDs for stable color mixing and consistent brightness.
  • Cut-to-length design at marked cutting points.
  • Easy mounting with adhesive backing, ideal for aluminum profiles.

Where to use an SMD 5050 RGB LED tape

This strip is great for accent lighting and clean architectural lines. Use it under shelves, inside niches, behind TVs, or in ceiling coves. It also works for displays, signage, and decorative highlights. For best thermal performance, install it in an aluminum profile. This improves cooling and keeps light output stable.

Power supply and voltage drop (power injection)

Choose a constant-voltage LED power supply matched to total wattage. Add a 20–30% safety margin for reliable work. Look for protections like OVP, OCP, SCP, and OTP. Active PFC models can improve overall stability.

To avoid brightness drop on long runs, use power injection. For 12V systems, feed power about every 5 m. For 24V systems, feed power about every 10 m. Run power in a star layout and use proper wire gauge. Seal connections if used in humid locations.

Installation tips for RGB LED strip 300LED SMD 5050

  • Clean and degrease the surface before mounting.
  • Cut only at the marked cutting points.
  • Connect by soldering or quality connectors.
  • Pair with a controller for effects and dimming.

FAQ

  • Which power supply should I choose? Add up wattage for all sections and add 20–30% headroom.
  • When do I need power injection? When runs are long or brightness must stay uniform.
  • Can I shorten and reconnect the strip? Yes, at cutting points, using solder or connectors.
