Philips Xitanium: The Future of LED Driver Technology – Reliability and Flexibility

Philips Xitanium is a premium series of constant current LED drivers (CC) designed for integrated installation in professional luminaires. These components form the foundation of modern indoor lighting systems, used in offices, public buildings, retail spaces and industrial applications.

Reliability and Protection Features

Xitanium drivers are engineered for long operating lifetimes and are backed by a 5-year warranty. Their expected lifetime ranges from 50,000 to 100,000 hours, depending on thermal conditions. They also withstand more than 100,000 switching cycles.

Key integrated protection mechanisms include:

  • Open/Short-circuit Protection: Output shuts down in case of fault and restores automatically once resolved.
  • Overpower Protection (OPP): Reduces output current if the rated power is exceeded.
  • Surge Immunity: Enhanced resistance to voltage surges.
  • Module Temperature Protection (MTP/NTC): Reduces output current when LED module temperature is too high.

Models are available in both SELV-isolated and non-isolated versions. Non-isolated versions require protective earth (PE) connection.

Flexibility with Adjustable Output Current (AOC)

A major benefit of Xitanium drivers is Adjustable Output Current (AOC), allowing manufacturers to match drivers to various LED modules.

Output current can be set using:

  1. External resistors (Rset, LEDset, iSet)
  2. DIP switches in selected models
  3. Software configuration via SimpleSet or DALI/TD using MultiOne

Lighting Control and Dimming Systems

  • Amplitude Modulation (AM) dimming: Smooth, flicker-free dimming across the entire range.
  • DALI / Touch and Dim (TD): Advanced digital lighting control.
  • MasterConnect (MC): Wireless control for supported models.
  • 1–10V: Classic analog dimming.

Advanced Configuration with MultiOne

Using Philips MultiOne software, installers and OEMs can customize driver parameters.

  • CLO (Constant Light Output): Maintains stable lumen output over product lifetime.
  • DCemDim: Automatic reduced emergency mode (≈15%).
  • Corridor Mode: Energy-saving mode for hallways and staircases.

FAQ

Q: Is Xitanium resistant to mains voltage fluctuations?
A: Yes. The active PFC ensures stable output and drivers can briefly withstand up to 350 Vac.

Q: What is OEM Write Protection (OWP)?
A: A password-based protection preventing unauthorized configuration changes.
